2010 Golf Tournament

A full field of thirty-six foursomes tee’d off at our first Silvio Cella Family Foundation Golf Tournament on August 2, 2010, at the Robert Trent Jones championship course at Ferncroft Country Club.

The day was a fitting tribute to Coach Cella’s legacy and the important role high school football can play for student athletes.

It was also a day of great golf, with some healthy competition on the course. Here are the winners from the 1st Annual Silvio Cella Family Foundation Golf Tournament:

Following the Tournament, over 200 people attended the dinner, enjoying a cocktail reception and great BBQ under the Ferncroft tent at the picturesque18th hole.

 N.E. Patriots great Pete Brock joined us as our guest speaker, talking about the coaches he played for throughout his football career, including13 years in the NFL. He noted that, of all his coaches, his high school football coach had the greatest impact on his life. He brought home the message about the value of high school football and the impact a dynamic and dedicated high school football coach can have on his players and his community.

Pete is currently president of the N.E. Patriots Alumni (www.patriots.com/alumni), which shares the Foundation’s mission to support high school football in Massachusetts. The Silvio Cella Family Foundation looks forward to teaming up with the N.E. Patriots Alumni, as we develop new programs and support high school football players, coaches and programs across the state.

Thanks to the immense generosity of our sponsors and golfers, the Foundation raised over $20,000 for the Silvio Cella Family Foundation. The Foundation will be awarding annual grants to help give high school football programs in Massachusetts the tools needed to be successful on the gridiron and help prepare young men for college, careers and family.
